The St. Gregory Catholic Hospital belongs to the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Cast and under the Department of National Catholic Health Service. It is a Non-Profit Mission Health Facility under the umbrella of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). The hospital has fully complied with the relevant regulatory bodies. The hospital started in 1990 as a clinic by UNHCR with Ghana Red Cross and the National Catholic Secretariat as its implementing partner, providing medical rehabilitation for the Liberian refugees displaced by civil war in Liberia.

Have been closed down in 2000, due to relative peace in Liberia and the return of refugees. Under the auspices of Cardinal Appiah Turkson it had to be reopened in 2002, by the St. Luke Catholic Hospital, Apam.

The clinic was later integrated into Ghana Health Service in 2007 and accredited by the then Private Hospitals and Maternity Home Board (Health Facilities Regulatory Authority) in 2009.

As part of plans to invoking the Cessation clause of the Liberian Refugees, the clinic was also handed over to the Archdiocese of Cape Coast on the 6th of May 2009. Subsequently, the clinic gained the status of being an implementer of the National Health Insurance services in the year 2010 and in October, 2011, it was accredited with Primary hospital status.

Politically, St. Gregory Catholic Hospital is located in Gomoa Buduburam of the Gomoa East District of the Central region. Currently, the hospital provides healthcare services to Ghana, Liberian, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Sudan, Togo and Nigeria among others.

 

CHAPLAINCY

The hospital religious set aside every Thursday to celebrate Holy Mass. we participate in the management retreat at Francisca Valley, a celebration of World Day of the Sick and the St. Gregory Feast Day. Retreats were organised for all staff as well.

 

GOVERNANCE

Then hospital is management by a tripartite management system comprising with Administrator, Medical Director and a Nurse Manger. Amongst the core is the Hospital Chaplain, who provides spiritual support and counselling to both staff and clients.  Besides this core, is the expanded management members including the Accountant, Human Resource Manager, and the Pharmacist who are co-opted to assist the core managing the hospital. Below this is the various unit heads, and other management units in the form of committee.
